Parts of a Microscope
Ocular lens(Eye piece)
This lens is the lens that you look into to view your specimen. It also magnifies your specimen by 10 times.
Coarse adjustment knob
This knob moves the stage(where you put your specimen) up or down so you can focus it on your specimen.
Fine adjustment knob
This lens is to sharpen an image under low and medium power. Use only adjustment knob on high power.
Revolving nosepeice
This is where the objective lenses are and it lets you switch through low, medium, and high power and you use it by rotating the lenses.
Objective lenses
There are three lens that let you see you specimen at different magnifications. The three magnifications are low power(4x), medium power(10x), and there is high power(40x).
Stage
This is the part of the microscope where you place your specimen for observation.
Stage clips
These clips are used to hold the specimen on a slide in place on the stage.
Diaphragm
This part of the microscope has different holes that let different amounts of light to pass through the specimen on the stage.
Lamp
The lamp supplies the light that passes through the specimen on the stage.
Arm
The arm of the microscope holds the tube in place and it's used for carrying the microscope.
Base
This makes a stable platform for the microscope so it's not shaking all the time when you are trying to view your specimen.
Tube
This separates the ocular lens and the objective lens so it can magnify properly.
Condenser lens
This lens is located under the stage and it helps focus light onto your specimen that is placed on top of the stage.
