How to prepare a dry and wet mount slide
Dry mount
1. Choose a specimen(e.g. a strand of hair)
2. Place your specimen in the middle of a clean and dry slide
3. Get a cover slip and hold it by it's edges and gently place it over your specimen
4. Place and view your specimen on the microscope and use the medium power lens to view for more focus.
MATERIALS: compound light microscope, microscope slides and cover slips, tweezers or a toothpick, specimen
2. Place your specimen in the middle of a clean and dry slide

MATERIALS: compound light microscope, microscope slides and cover slips, tweezers or a toothpick, specimen
Wet mount
1. Have a clean, dry microscope slide and cover slip in front of you.
2. Place 1 or 2 drops of water in the middle of the slide.
3. Use tweezers to place your specimen on the drop of water.
4. Hold the cover slip by it's edges, at an angle of about 45 degrees to the surface of the slide.
5. View your specimen under the microscope and then you can change to medium so you can see your specimen more clearly.
MATERIALS: compound light microscope, cover slips, microscope slides, tweezers, water, medicine dropper
2. Place 1 or 2 drops of water in the middle of the slide.
3. Use tweezers to place your specimen on the drop of water.
4. Hold the cover slip by it's edges, at an angle of about 45 degrees to the surface of the slide.
5. View your specimen under the microscope and then you can change to medium so you can see your specimen more clearly.
